I have been quite compelled to really try hard to come up with some top-notch shit lately. Seriously. I really want to put out dynamite from now on. Nothing half-assed, even if that means skipping a week. What I am starting to think is that constant output is very important, BUT if it forgoes quality it is not important enough to put stuff out.
So I think the new plan is a continuation of the last few months, where I don't think any duds have come out, but there has not been a schedule. I haven't kept up with tagging an agenda with dates and deadlines. I've become more relaxed making this stuff, and I think it's really helping.
After watching the Know Your Enema thing after letting it be that week I knew this was the right course of action. That video took several days where I went over it again and again and made sure it looked top-notch visually on top of being funny. And I think that is the best song parody video I've gotten out ever.
Then we have my new invention, Eldertuning. That was not rushed, either. The filming took about an hour and was really easy to do, but the editing and manipulation of the audio took several days. I took my time and it came out exactly how I wanted it to. I mean, it's not 100% Lil Wayne true as I did do a lot of manipulation before I ran it through AutoTune, but I think it went well.
Andy Milonakis was kind enough to take a whack at the AutoTuning of the vocals and I may make a techno remix of the video with his version. That guy is a complete genius and I hope that isn't the only time I am in contact with him.
Anyway, I say cheers to everyone. I think we're entering kind of a Renaissance of what I do here. I've kind of got my shit together, you know? I have a bit of a process for taking something and making it into something that I think isn't only funny, but makes you think some. I think AutoTuning the seniors' advice is a perfect example of that. It's punk rock as all hell, but it also talks to you in a way.
Honestly, we DO need to listen to our elders. That was part of the point I was making. In my mind, that video was actually very critical of both old and young people without really jamming it into your face. It's critical of young people in that we won't listen to anything - music, speech, etc. - unless it is ran through processing, both computer and analytically. And it's critical of the elderly in not really figuring out any way to get through to the younger generation. A lot of the time, they really do come off as dull, preachy, or just plain grouchy. No one wants to hear that, not even other elderly people. But the fact of the matter is, they have lived it. They are very wise, even if some of their opinions may be closed-minded or technologically impaired.
A lot of them really do piss me off, though. Like Dick Cheney deciding to support his daughter's lifestyle after his position as most powerful man in the world... I mean "2nd" most powerful person in the world was relinquished. What a cunt, that man.
