Norwegian Black Metal fans are generally proving to me how much they suck ass. They are continually writing me comments about how my father's day video isn't real Black Metal, therefore isn't funny and sucks.
No shit it's not really Black Metal, you idiots. I'm making fun of you. It doesn't matter how accurate the metal is. The point I made with that video is that you would never expect some dark metal person to be well-adjusted AND GO FIGURE(!), you guys aren't.
I would like to say "those guys have a good sense of humor and can take a joke from someone who has literally never made anything like their music in their life," but I can't. They apprently do not.
Which is good for my ego, because I get to (yet again) revel in being correct. Maybe that is bad for my ego. Depends on how much you value self-confidence, I guess. I value it a lot. Believing in yourself should be a requirement to graduate. And graduation should in turn be a requirement for not being shot dead by the Superintendent.
It doesn't bother me in the least that people completely don't get that I don't care if Dimmu Borgir is industrial-tinged goth metal or whatever. Musical genres are for idiots. If you only listen to one kind of music, you are missing out on the whole picture and doing so intentionally. Arrogance & igrnorance go hand in hand.
I even like Dimmu Borgir. I watched True Norwegian Black Metal - the documentary on Gorgoroth - as research. I eve watched a lot of black metal videos as reference.
By the way, I have never seen so many videos filmed in the woods.
Point is, I do have some semblance of an idea what Black Metal is. I really am more interested in the people than the music. I've listened to it. I get it. It's not for me, though. I enjoy studying the people; the grim side of reality is very interesting. But I think it's something negative in the end; something not trying to make lives better, but rather just pushing another agenda. Another us vs. them exlusive club.
Don't be a conformist, dress like us instead! Wear our uniform! Buy our merchandise! Power our business machine!
I even listen to some of this music, though! I don't consider it black/goth/death, though. It's just metal, some angrier, some less. Do we need to keep boiling stuff down further? Do we need to keep up the "I like this band so they're cool until other people like them" shit up? Why have the cliques?
Does the world wish it could still be in high school that bad? Because high school sucked shit.
